Riverplate House, London

Factory Furniture were appointed by WilkinsonEyre Architects to design and manufacture several large planters and seating. The planters were destined for the 8th floor terrace of the newly redeveloped office building (formerly Riverplate House) in Finsbury Circus, London.

Each planter featured a strong galvanised mild steel frame. The frames were then clad in FSC® timber panels. Each planter also had hidden LED lighting providing dramatic night-time illumination. The planters were designed in such a way that a sizable portion of the frame was submerged below finished floor level. This provided extra soil depth and secure fixing to the building superstructure. The frame and other fixings were hidden so as not to distract from the natural beauty of the timber panels.
